Father Derik Justin Roy, Jr. (Rector)
Father
Roy was ordained June 4, 1977 to the Diaconate and to the Priesthood, December 21, 1977.
Father Roy graduated from SUNY Albany with a BA in 1974 and from Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary with a MDIV in 1977. He served as a curate for two years at St. Stephen’s, Delmar, NY, then two years
as Rector at Christ Church and St. John’s, Rouses Point, NY, then for 14 years at St Francis, Grayling, Michigan and
St. Bartholomew’s, Mio, Michigan. Fr. Roy has served as the Rector of Christ
Church Ballston Spa since 1994. Father Roy has served on a number of Diocesan
committees including; Standing Committee, Commission on Ministry, Executive Counsel Evangelism Committee and he has taught
classes on Church growth, Welcome ministry, Homiletics, Bible Study, Vestry, Friendship Evangelism and much more. Father Roy deeply loves his six children.
Deacon Al Moser
Deacon Al and his wife, Peg, are originally from Reading, Pennsylvania.
Deacon Al enlisted in the Air Force in 1946 and spent three years in the service, two and a half years in Japan. Al worked as a clerk and served as a chaplain’s assistant by playing the organ
and organizing a Japanese mixed choir of Christian converts for special services. He
also played piano in a swing band that played for General McArthur’s enlisted men’s club in Tokyo
on Saturday evenings.
After being discharged from the Air Force, Deacon Al attended and graduated
from Lebanon Valley College in Annville,
Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in Music Education. He taught Music for seven years in
the Scotia-Glenville School District at both the elementary and junior high levels.
In 1959 he earned an M.S. degree at SUNY Albany in Guidance and Counseling and he worked as a guidance counselor for
Scotia-Glenville until his retirement in June of 1984.
Deacon Al served as both choir director and organist at St. Andrews Episcopal
Church in Scotia and in 1962, he began a program of study for the Vocational Diaconate.
Deacon Al was ordained on October 25th 1965 and assigned to St.
Andrews parish where he served until the summer of 1998. He subsequently
transferred to Christ Church, Ballston
Spa where he continues to serve as Deacon under the Bishop’s supervision and with the direction of the rector of the
parish. In addition, Deacon Al plays piano and organ for Sunday services when
the organist goes on vacation.
Deacon Al is very active in his community as a 52 year member of the Scotia/Glenville
Lions Club. He also plays music and provides entertainment in nursing homes throughout
the area. Deacon Al was a member of the Condair Flying Club and flew light planes
for 20 years out of the Schenectady County Airport;
other hobbies include gardening and photography. He and his wife Peg enjoy traveling and visiting their three sons and their
families. They are also the proud grand parents of two grandsons, one of whom
just completed his second tour of duty in Iraq, and two Great
Granddaughters.
Deacon Al just celebrated his 41st anniversary of ordination as a Deacon
and on Thanksgiving Day this year (2006) he and Peg will celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary. This ministry has
been a dual ministry with Peg's ample assistance all the while.
Deacon Bill Pearson
Ordained January 11, 2003 at Christ Episcopal Church, has been a member of Christ Church for ten years along with his
wife of thirty-two years, Elaine. Deacon Bill has been very involved with the Outreach ministry of Noah’s Attic since
it’s inception in 1999 and in men’s ministry. He has made his living in the construction industry for the past
thirty-six years. Deacon Bill can be reached through the Church office at 885-1031.
Deacon Lynne Crimi
Lynne received her Bachelor's Degree from Russell Sage College in 1966 and her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University
in 1989. She worked in a Cancer Center for ten years counseling patients and their families. She has been
trained by and worked for the Mind Body Medical Institute, Sunnyview Hospital, Hospice and the Episcopal Counseling
Center. She and her husband Dennis have been married for over 40 years and have been blessed with two sons and a daughter.
